The Crawford County Historical Society CCHS received a $5000 Impact100 Grant at the recent Impact100 Crawford County annual reception at Heartland Farms on September 26, 2024.
The CCHS museum, at 308 North Smith Street at Recklein Commons, is in the old 1934 Cuba High School. A group of residents who wanted to preserve Crawford County’s unique history started the museum in 1968. The building hosts three floors of exhibits unique to Crawford County. Displays are curated to capture the essence of Ozark families.
The Impact100 Grant allows the museum to add new technology and long-overdue digital updates. This digital makeover includes touchscreen technology to ensure all patrons can enjoy the museum from top to bottom without the need to navigate stairs. This update lays the foundation for creating a virtual environment of inclusivity for everyone and an interactive future for the museum.
Impact100 Crawford County is a like-minded group of women who seek to enrich the community meaningfully through grants to local nonprofits. At the 8th annual event, the group awarded $45,000 to five groups. In addition to the CCHS Museum, the Steelville Trail of Tears Remembrance Committee, Power of Hope Equestrian Center, KVC Missouri, and Mission Gate Prison Ministry received grants.
The CCHS museum is open Wednesday-Friday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm through December 13, 2024. Group tours are available by calling 573-885-6099 or email info@crawfordmomuseum.com.
